ROYAL CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE - LOCAL RULES

1. Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions - Rule 24-1 applies.


2. Relief may be taken from all tractor ruts. Relief may be taken under rule 25-1B, i.e. within one club length
not nearer the hole.


3. Roads, paths and tee markers. Relief may be taken under rule 24-2B, i.e. within one club length from the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole, not in a hazard, not nearer the hole.


4. All fixed sprinkler heads, control boxes and yardage markings are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under rule 24-2B. In addition, if such an obstruction on or within two clubs length of the putting green of the hole being played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief, without penalty as follows; If the ball lies off the putting green, but not in a hazard, and is within two clubs length of the intervening obstruction, it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which (a) is not nearest the hole, (b) avoids such intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on the putting green.



5. If the original ball is found in the water hazard, the player may either play the original ball as it

lies or continue with the ball played provisionally under Rule 26-1.

If the original ball is not found or identified within the five-minute search period, the player must

continue with the ball played provisionally.

 

Penalty for breach of local rule 4 and 5: Match play - Loss of hole, Stroke play - two strokes.


APPENDIX: Relief from seeded divots and seeded areas.


Hand held satellite systems are allowed in all competitions. Only standard laser GPS systems may be used Systems which provide “playing distance” may not be used.

Only golf shoes with soft spikes are allowed at Royal Golf Club.
